Pike Commentary

This kind of poem, " Pike”, was written by English language poet Ted Hughes. This poem made up from 11 stanzas and each stanza is made up of 4 lines. This poem can be divided in three parts, all these parts conveying different images of this poem. The 1st part starts off from 1st stanza and ends about fourth stanza. In first part poet person makes an image of goal and very subjective descriptions of Pike, the images we get from their store and actual facts about these people. The initially stanza lets us know how the Pike looks like, " Pike, 3 inches long”, " Pike in all parts, green tigering the gold”, word " tigering” makes an image of violent ttacker and impression that Pike is the most harmful creature in the lake. Simply by " They dance within the surface among the list of flies” poet person wants to show that Pike doesn't live deep in water. In second stanza poet lets us know that Pike is a " grandeur” seafood - respectable fish. In third stanza, poet used word " gloom” to create strong distinction which makes the image of cruelty of Pike stronger. In fourth stanza poet is constantly on the describe Pike's looks. This individual used words " Clamp” and " fangs” showing that Pike is dangerous and dangerous creature. In second component to this poem, poet describes different displays with Pike. He lets us know about personal anecdote of three Pikes kept in the home in aquarium and about a deadly combat between two Pikes. In fifth stanza, poet lets us know that Pikes were held in aquarium, " kept behind grass” and that there exists a lot of marijuana growing, " Jungled in weed”. After that poet lets us know how big the Pikes were, " three inches, four, and four and half”, but next poet highlights that one of Pikes was smaller and can't be in contrast to others, " red fry to them”. Also, poet person tells us that there was a severe combat between them, " Suddenly there was two. Finally one”. In sixth stanza poet identifies what happened following the fight, " sag belly and the grin”, by this phrase poet lets us know that the champion pike features stayed in and completely happy.
